When I transitioned into being a professional artist I had no idea the depth of power art has. I simply knew I loved painting and couldn’t resist it any longer in my life. In the past year, I have heard stories that have given more purpose to my art.

One friend told me about a collector who had surrounded himself by her art. His life was fairly stressful and he was on blood pressure medication. After a while of having so much of her art surrounding him, he started noticing that he was calmer on business calls. Gradually he was able to stop taking the blood pressure medication as well.

That was all I needed to catapult me more fully into my work. I enjoy doing something that can impact people’s lives in a positive way. In the past, it had been music. Now my work is painting.

Recently I discovered there is “evidence-based” research that shows art in hospitals helps to encourage healing. It makes sense when you think about it. When we’re sick it seems we start getting better faster once we get out of the room we’ve been in for the duration of the sickness. That act alone seems to speed recovery along. I’ve noticed this in my own life with simple flu.

Art creates a home-like feel to any building. It’s used powerfully in hotels and resorts all around the world. It has a positive magnetic vibe. In hospitals, it can only bring a bright spot in the dreary, unpredictable environment.

As an abstract nature painter, I invite you to bring nature in through art and discover the effects for yourself. Abstract nature inspires an openness to new ways of seeing things which can also encourage progress.

Complex sounds, spaces, textures and tones translate into complex surfaces making a painting very rich. These musical ideas inform all of my work.
